Com a exposição de pintura Praia, de Ana André, damos início ao ciclo de arte contemporânea “Um Certo Ponto de Vista”, um projecto Artadentro que integra o programa 365 Algarve.

De facto, foi na praia de Faro que a artista passou grande parte dos Verões da sua infância. Hoje, passados já alguns anos, a memória desses tempos despreocupados e alegres, vem reforçar a noção de “praia” como o lugar de desejo por excelência: É o “Éden” contemporâneo, o lugar utópico do bem estar, onde o tempo abranda e toda a preocupação abre um parênteses à possibilidade duma felicidade perene. É também, no contexto local, o sítio problemático da reclamada reabilitação ambiental, que ameaça modos de vida e o rendimento da população.
Tudo isto, Ana André aborda — como é próprio da pintura —, pela luz. É a luminosidade estranha e fugaz do anoitecer, de fronteira, onde as cores mudam a cada minuto e o mundo com elas, abrindo um universo de possibilidades inesperadas…
Durante a inauguração foi amavelmente proporcionada pela CVA – Comissão Vitivinícola do Algarve, uma prova dos melhores vinhos produzidos no Algarve,
ANA ANDRÉ é natural de Faro, onde vive e trabalha desde 2002.
Estudou Pintura e Desenho no Ar.Co em Lisboa e fez a Licenciatura em Artes Visuais na Universidade do Algarve.
Expõe desde 1995, em exposições individuais e colectivas.
O seu trabalho é desenvolvido através de pintura e desenho, ocasionalmente utiliza outros suportes como a fotografia, o som e o vídeo.

With “Praia”, Ana André’s painting exhibition, we initiate the contemporary art cycle “A certain point of view”, an Artadentro’s project part of the program “365 Algarve”.
Ana André spent most of her childhood summers at Faro beach. Today, some years later, the memory of those happy and carefree days bolsters the notion of “beach” as a place of desire — the contemporary “Eden”, an utopian place of well-being, where time slows down and all the trouble turns into an opportunity of happiness. At the same time, in a local context, this place is the problematic site of a demanded environmental rehabilitation, which threatens the population’s ways of life and income.
Ana André touches on all of this – as one would expect in painting – through light. It is the strange and fleeting luminosity of twilight, of the border, where the colours change every minute and the world changes with them, opening up a universe of unexpected possibilities…
About the artist
Ana André was born in Faro, the city where she currently lives and works. She studied Painting and Drawing at Ar.Co — in Lisbon, and Visual Arts at the University of Algarve.
She has been exhibiting her work in individual and group exhibitions, in Portugal and abroad since 1995.
Her work essentially focuses on painting and drawing, occasionally she uses photography, sound and video.
